Moving On, In and Out

Moving On, In and Out

I found myself shaking
sending a text
in a threatening moment.

My protectors
very efficiently sent light speed signals
igniting nerves and thoughts
time traveling backwards
to the place when I was confronted with the reality
of the danger
I was facing in the dark driveway
in the upstairs hallway.

I could take all this as a sign
that I haven’t moved on yet.
But the insect trembles
as it emerges,
a new form.

So I’ll use my adrenaline filled fingers
little speeding heart
the shoulders full of flight
wind caught in the dark tunnels
of my bronchial passages

and send the text
and thank my protectors,

and hang upside down,
and alight from this branch,
seeing the world anew.

Wavering
Gliding and teetering into the sunshine.
